June 4, 2019 A day off: Taking a day of leave in the middle of the week to go fishing. Wonderful, right? Making a nice drift on the Meuse while trying out some new gear (Raymarine Element 9).
It was quite tough going, with only the occasional fish here and there. I wouldn’t have caught the biggest one without the Panoptix system. I saw a big echo turning away to the left of my lure. So I paddled after it and managed to tempt this hefty guy into biting my Clonk teaser.

About the Raymarine Element 9. An interesting device, and very ready to use straight away. As a real fishfinder addict, I find this device almost TOO easy to use. There’s fairly little you can adjust compared to other brands. And… apparently the factory settings are already pretty good on their own. Hmm… I don’t know whether I should be satisfied with this device or not?

While catfishing I use two devices at the same time. The GPSMAP 8410xsv for visualizing the Panoptix scan, and a second device showing a combination of Side Imaging and mapping. In this case the Element 9.

My fishing buddy also managed to catch a nice catfish, so it turned out to be a successful day for both of us.
