Livestream system on Garmin Luremasters Trophy 2022
Hi! Probably a lot of you guys saw the livestream system we use on the Garmin Lure Masters Trophy 2022. We’ve already used it on the Predatortour 2022 as well, and it seems to provide the organization a clear and stable stream with a lot of action-packed content. The system functions as a single camera, and thus can be linked to practically every streaming system.
I think this system could be interesting for a lot of brands and companies, as it is a way to show your products and anglers in a positive real-time way.
Be aware that this system is not cheap. I will make a summary of the costs later on.
I decided to explain here the streaming system for everyone’s use. The purpose is to make competitive fishing accessible to the audience.

We can of course also install this system on your boat.
Requirements for the system:
- A dry, ventilated area, like a console of your boat.
- One, or multiple Gopro’s. Preferable 7 or earlier as they have a HDMI-out. Another action cam with HDMI-out is also perfect. (330€)
- A gamer capture card – we use Elgato Game Capture HD60 S+, but also have the AVerMedia Live Streamer CAP 4K BU113 (99€)
- Some kind of laptop, or windows tablet. Should be quite fast. We use the Microsoft Surface Pro 7+ 256 GB 31,2 cm (12.3″) Intel® 11de generation Core™ i7 16 GB Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) Windows 10 Pro Platina (1400€)
- A 5G wifi router with a SIM card with enough of data bandwidth. We use the Netgear Nighthawk M5 5G WiFi Mobile Router (779€)
- A 12V USB hub, like the ORICO Aluminum Alloy 7 Port USB3.0 HUB with 30W Power Adapter (65€)
- A battery which can provide the power to charge the gopro’s, mobile router and tablet for a whole day of fishing. We use 2 x Jarocell 12V125Ah, 50-75Ah is probably enough for a day streaming
- A 12V laptop charger, like the Lenovo ThinkPad T480s Car Charger (40€)
- HDMI and USB cables, which are depending on you setup/boat.
Optional hardware:
- A Yolotek Gopro mount for every gopro you want to stream, which can charge the Gopro via the lights of the boat. (145€)
- A decent microphone, we use the RODE NT-USB mini (99€)
- You can stream fishfinder data as well directly on the screen. This requires a HDMI out on the fishfinder (Garmin 84* series or Humminbird Apex series)
- To change camera angles fast, I have added an Elgato Stream Deck to the setup. With these buttons I can switch to the action. (80€).
Software required:
- OBS Studio: this is freeware and captures all the images into 1 scene. Can also be used to stream directly to an RTMP server.
Installation:
The idea is that the Gopro captures the image, sends it via the HDMI cable to the capture card, which sends it via USB-C to the tablet or computer.
The tablet is connected to a WIFI netwerk with the 5G router.
- The gopro’s are charged via the Yolotek gopro mount into the lighting socket of the boat.
- The tablet is charged via the 12V laptop charger.
- The 5G router has a good battery, but is charged via the USB-C into the 12V USB hub.
In OBS Studio, you can make scenes with different Video capture devices and overlays.
